You can also expand to have up to 12 handsets throughout your house. The display, owners manuals and voice prompts can be set to English, Spanish and French. Poor audio quality trumped other features

Pros:signal strength (signal went through difficult parts of house, strong in basement)screen (clear, bright)weight (much lighter than our previous cordless phones from Uniden)form (unusual but usable shape and size)automatic base detection, line detection, and handset numberingCons:audio quality- static at start and end of words while on speaker phone- clipping of words reduce intelligibility- some people on the other end couldn't even understand all the words we said- ECO mode seemed to reduce audio quality (not surprising, but there doesn't seem to be a way to disable ECO mode)Minor annoyances:very tall phone can be easily knocked out of charging standnot intuitive how to go "back" when in menusI need this thing for work and can't afford to miss what other people are saying in telecons. I really can't afford to have my words missed, either. One person I called didn't even want to talk to me if I was using it. Thank heavens Amazon makes returns easy... it's on its way back tomorrow.

Does not keep time

I bought a D1685-3 that would not keep time. It would lose variable amounts of time for unknown reasons. Uniden sent a replacement D1685 that exhibited the same problem. Uniden then sent me a D2280-3 replacement. It lost 42 minutes the day after I set it up. I reset the time, and it lost another 4 hours that evening. Three days later, the D2280 is 40 hours and 12 minutes behind. Internet searches revealed over a hundred complaints about multiple Uniden models not keeping time. Uniden knows that the problem is widespread, but it cannot or will not provide replacement phones that keep time.Uniden will not issue a refund for phones purchased from Amazon.com or any other vendor. Uniden's customer service and warranty departments are swamped with calls: my three calls kept me on the line for 45, 42, and 77 minutes.

Buy it, if you can get it for $4.99

Unfortunately it cost a lot more than $4.99 for the system with 3 handsets.In short, I find the system incredibly irritating, since it will not keep the correct time. Uniden doesn't admit that it's a fault, but others have noticed the same thing.Trying a test that Uniden asked me to do, the phone keeps good time ... if it is not connected to a phone line. Connect it back to the phone line and when a call comes in, the Uniden system resets itself to some random time hours earlier.If you need a phone that works well when it's not connected to a phone line (and therefore useless), you might like this system. Or, if you have a forklift and want to run over something and squish it, this is the system for you. Otherwise, steer clear of it.I've used Uniden equipment for many years, but this may well be the last time. Their engineering used to be top quality, but it seems to have hit rock bottom.Junk.
