Skype phone RTX 4088

I have old RTX 3088 dualphones in my other home in Europe. They were ok except their life cycle is short app. 2,5 years only. I got four of them and two are currently broken and the third was broken already when shipped and was replaced.I bought recently four new RTX 4088 phones for my US home. They function ok as a Skype and normal phone. I hope that this time they are more solid and I could use them more than 2,5 years.RTX 4088 doesn't look high quality - it is very "plastic". They could also use some color coding in the buttons (red and green). Functionality is 5/5 stars but the design, look and feel is 2/5 stars and expected life cycle (based on earlier experience) 1/5 stars ' total 3/5 stars.When I give 3/5 stars to RTX 4088, I give 0,5/5 stars to ChatAndVision, which delivers those phones. I don't trust them based on earlier experience even if this time the phones came as agreed. If you have problems with their delivery, they are non-responsive and you should try to avoid their services. Unfortunately there are not too many alternative sources for RTX phones.

Even an old salt like me can move into the tech-age

I dumped AT&T. Cell Phone is my main connection now, but I have overseas contacts and SKYPEing isn't practical for all of the calls (the microphone gives bad echo). This phone works as well as the old land line and at $35/year on SKYPE, I think I've got a deal. AT&T doesn't agree, though. BTW, when I cancelled my service, they offered to 1/2 my monthly fee for the same service--does that piss anyone else off?

Great as a landline replacement

We have used skype as our landline replacement for years now. It's not to be used for 911, and that's fine, we also have cell phones if needed. We just wanted something to use 'in case' we wanted a land line. At $3/month for a skype land line number, and something like $30/year... We couldn't justify the cost of a normal line from the telco. You must have broadband, but that's it.This phone works great. No need for a computer to be on. No need for wireless (you can set the box near your incoming router).There is only the occasional hiccup, and for $3/month, I can live with it.
