RCA 25212 2-Line Cordless Intercom Speakerphone
By Fred Allen
It's difficult to find a good quality SOHO FULL DUPLEX speakerphone... NONE of the AT&T phones are full duplex, for example. After comparing models from AT&T, Panasonic, Uniden, RCA and others, this RCA 25212 included the best compromise of features I wanted/needed.FEATURES I CONSIDERED MANDATORY (FOR MY PURPOSES) AND THIS PHONE "DOES" HAVE* Message Waiting Indicator (very bright light)* I do NOT want a phone with built in answering system, since the phone typically will not then work properly with my phone company voice mail system.* Line status visual indicators (very bright red and blue lights)* Full Duplex speakerphone (Base and Handheld)* Keypad (Base and Handheld)* Call Waiting Caller ID* Speed Dial (at least 10)* Backlit LCD (programmable to automatically turn on/off, or to be "always on", my choice)* Flash function* Hold function* Programmable "Pause"* Non-interfering with WiFiFEATURE I WANTED, BUT THIS RCA 25212 DOES NOT HAVE* Line powered (This phone requires AC power to function, while some AT&T phones, such as model 17929, will provide basic telephone functions from CO line power.) This is my biggest complaint about this phone model, which is relatively minor. I just have to keep a separate "line powered phone" somewhere in my house for emergency use in AC power outages.OBSERVATIONS AFTER HAVING USED THIS PHONE FOR ONE DAY* Users that complain about the phone not indicating they have voice mail messages waiting at their phone company voice mail system... Noote: This RCA 25212 "DOES" support this feature (sometimes called COVM), but one must subscribe to the feature from the phone company. This phone has a bright blue light on the upper right side of the base indicating "New Message". However, there is only one LED, so the user must then look at the LCD display to determine if the message waiting is on Line 1, Line 2 or both Line 1 & 2. (Minor inconvenience, but very usable.)* As others have stated, the LCD display is a bit difficult to read, but it is usable.* The two speed buttons labeled "voice mail" only allow a short string to be stored... too short to enter the vm number and password. (I am using two of the ten (10) regular speed dial buttons for my two separate "voice mail systems", since the regular speed dial buttons will store a longer string.* This phone auto selects the open line, which could be useful for someone with two "equal lines", such as two business lines. However, for my purposes, I use one line for "home" and one line for "business", so I want the phone to always select the "business" line. Since the phone auto selects line #1 if both lines are open, I've wired my wall jack such that my "business" line will be on line 1 of the phone. (The AT&T model 17929 was better in this aspect, since the AT&T phone would allow selection of the "default line".)* This RCA phone has good voice quality on both handset and speakerphone... no issues for me.* This RCA phone consumes a fairly small footprint on my desktop and has a nice quality, professional "look".All in all, with price not being much of an object (I paid around $90 plus sales tax at Amazon), this phone came closest to meeting all my requirements/desires. (If the AT&T ML 17929, or similar AT&T models, had a full duplex speakerphone, they would have been my choice, since they have a better LCD display panel and all other features I needed, at almost half the price. But note: The A&T ML 17929 has a corded handset, while this RCA 25212 has a cordless handset... either handset would have been ok for my purposes.)UPDATED 9/17/2012 - Have had to replace the 25212 (under warranty) as well as had to replace a wireless headset (25065) for separate reasons. The replacements (so far) appear to work properly. But beware... even if the headset is on MUTE, if the user strays too far from the base station, the headset "loses mute" and others on the call can hear you! Still, overall, it's the best phone I've found to meet my specific requirements... I just HATE that I had to pay return shipping for the two defective RCA items!

Excellent telephone system
By Mondo Fuego
We have 2 of the RCA ViSYS 25212 DECT 6.0 base units, 6 satellite units, and 2 bluetooth earpieces. Everything works perfectly, sound quality is excellent, keypad is excellent. We looked at all the other 2-line units and nothing else even comes close.

Like the features on this 2 line phone
By Steven J. Melena
I purchased a second of these units after the first worked out great for my first home. I have these connected to a VoIP phone system with a google voice connection and a second to a provider. I very much like the features that were above what I anticipated. There is a sticking feel to the buttons around the display that is the only negative. The buttons still work though.
