Philips Skype Voip cordless phone
By Amateur historian
Well, it works, but perfect it aint.1 - The display screen seems of a previous generation - shows about 10 characters, so difficult to read contacts' names. Totally out of date compared with current mobile phone displays.2 - Very fragile - dropping the handset on the floor caused irreparable damage, and no spares - ony solution was to buy a whole new set.3 - The whole idea was to use it with Skypeout to avoid the need for a fixed phone line - OK, but you can't dial out directly (could if used with phone line) - have to first enter the number as a Skype contact (note 1 above).

Good phones, when they work.
By D. Nielson
I already had one of these phones before. at the time I was only using Windows XP, and the phone would work just fine. Now when I got a new PC which is running both XP and Vista, I decided to get two more of these phones to be used around the house. There is a notice on Philips' website stating that these phones do work with Vista. On the box it says Compatible with XP and Later. I took this to mean they work with Vista, but turns out that by Later, Philips means older, as in Windows 98 and 2000. I ran into problems right away. If I pug the base station directly into my PC, the computer will freeze at startup when it loads the BIOS. I figured a workaround though. By connecting it through a USB hub in my monitor, my PC will startup properly, most of the time. But the phone still will not work when I am using Vista, only when I use XP.I feel Philips has failed to deliver on their promises, as it does clearly say on their website that the phones work on Vista. All this said, the phones do work fabulously as land line phones.
