I like this phone :)
By Kristin
I bought this extra handset with the base unit and it's a great little phone! The range is terrific, the battery life--well, I can't kill it (and that's saying something!), the style and look of it is really nice and sleek... The ringtones are nice, the wallpapers are okay--not bad, not incredible--but the colors are nice and crisp, the screensaver clock is useful and clear--not to mention pretty cool. The sound quality is really nice--you can hear everything--every voice inflection--so if you are hyperintuitive like me, you'll hear even better when people are sad, happy, anxious, etc. My daughter is hard of hearing and she can hear on this phone without turning up the volume to the maximum. It doesn't 'flash' to the second line very quickly, and you have to pause a couple of seconds before saying "hello" to your second line... but I'll get used to that. When you dial a number, you don't always get the strong "tone" of each number, but the calls always go through. The speakerphone is amazing--very loud and clear.I like the phone. It's not hard to keep clean, it comes with microfiber cloths to polish it (but a simple dusting does just fine).I recommend this one :)

Not worth the price, buy a different Phillps unit
By JMed
PHILIPS ID 9370B Enhanced High DefVoice Additional HandsetPurchased both answering machine/handset and additional handset. Mainly chose this unit due to size and appearance. Looks great as far as if your phone must be in a place that is obivously visible (kitchen counter, as mine is). Took answering unit out of box, and set up rather easily. Font style and size looks like an old style cellular phone, which is just ok, but could be much better. The additional handset is defective right out of the box and will not work at all. I contaced Phillips as Amazon/seller would not help with the issue or return. Phillips simply had me submit my proof of purchase, and will be refunding my purchase price of the unit. The phone is different looking, but that's all. There are definately better values for the money spent on this unit. Phillips customer service was fantastic, and I will try to purchase a different unit from them. Phillips also informed me that the phone production of this unit stopped in 2008, so if I had known this also, I would have chosen differently for sure. Buy a different unit and save yourself some time and money.

Nice design, great sound, no problems!
By Chambolle
I'd like to rise to the defense of this model, which I have been happily using for about two years now. I like it well enough that I've just bought a new expansion handset to go with my existing system. I may be a bit late to the party, as it appears this phone system has been discontinued and is now being closed out by discounters, per this Amazon entry.I'm all thumbs when it comes to these feature laden electronic devices -- blu ray players, hdtvs, smartphones and the like -- I figure out how to use what I need and don't waste my life learning all the bells and whistles. That said, I have never had any trouble getting this phone to do everything I need. The sound is great, the effective range from the base station is more than adequate for my 3000 square foot living space and I can take the phone out on the deck or the front porch, or even down into the basement, and still get decent reception, with our base unit located in a loft space three stories above the ground floor.I work at home a few days a week; spend lots of phone time with clients and colleagues in the office; and must have a reliable speakerphone with good sound quality. The speakerphone function in this tiny handheld cordless, amazingly, is better than the bulky, expensive, corded, purpose-built Polycom speakerphone that used to eat up a lot of real estate on my desk. I can stand this little cordless phone on its small round base, on the kitchen counter, tucked in next to my wi-fi connected laptop, and make handsfree calls quite comfortably and reliably. There is no interference between the wi-fi and the DECT phone signals. When the phone is not in use, the charging base is so small it all but disappears from view.I have had none of the problems others report here ... no phantom rings in the middle of the night, no loss of contact with the base station, no battery failure, no difficulty figuring out how to use the phone. The display is great, the analog clock display in sleep mode is a truly nice touch. As for battery life, I've had this handset running in speaker mode for conference calls of 90 minutes or more -- and not once has the battery quit before the call was done. Those who claim there is no more than 10 minutes of talk time either have defective units or haven't fully charged the battery before use.All in all, it's been a satisfying purchase and a useful tool for day to day use in the home office, kitchen and studio. FOLLOW UP 11/2011 - This phone continues to work well day in and day out, despite numerous power surges and outages that one might have expected would destroy it, and despite heavy domestic and home office use. It has been a useful tool and a workhorse, and it still looks better and is more compact than anything else in this price range or at any price. ANOTHER FOLLOWUP 2/2013 - We have three of these phones in our home, and they continue to work perfectly. I've replaced the rechargeable batteries in each one and after about five years in service, the phones keep right on going.
