4trusted product
By Sandi
I replaced my 7 year old Panasonic KX model cordless speaker phone/answering system because the batteries no longer held a charge, I wanted more than 4 handsets and I wanted a smaller footprint. I have only had this system for a week now. I wanted to stay with Panasonic because of the talking caller ID feature, back lit keys and large font display.I was initially disappointed that it is only an answering system and that the base unit does not provide dialing or speaker functions. However I decided to hang onto my old KX set and use just that base in my office where I need the ability to type and still get a clear conversion over the speaker because there is too much interference noise over the handsets when near electronics. I just found out that they do make another current model with a base speaker phone but I don't want the hassle of packing, returning and re-ordering.So except for the lack of a speaker system built into the base and having to deal with the coded menus, I am very pleased. Our last Panasonic menus and submenus were all accessible by scrolling. This one has a scrolling menu with selections that apply to all of the registered handsets and then it has a separate menu that can only be accessed by entering codes. The coded menu selections only apply to that specific handset. It makes sense to separate them but it also requires me to keep the manual available for changes because I need to look up a code to access that submenu. One minor adjustment will be the 4-directional center button. It holds all the scrolling features of the older model plus handles the functions of the older model's 3 lower buttons (Intercom/Flash/Redial). It's too hard to read the words telling which way to scroll it for what I want it to do, but once I remember it should be fine.It has a few new features that I am enjoying. The shared phonebook is a great asset as I don't have to manually enter or transfer called or received numbers into each handset's phone book. I just save them in one handset and they magically appear in the others. I like being able to sort my numbers into groups and assign each group a distinctive ring. Our family's cell phones are only identified by the word "MONTANA" so I can tell by the ring if it is a family member or a business or an unknown organization calling. Another great one is the caller blocking. Despite the fact that all our phones have been registered with DO NOT CALL for years, they keep coming! Now, especially with a new house move and the campaign season approaching, I can set it to auto block any calls that do not display a number. If the ROBO calls do display a number it is easy to save it into Call Block which holds up to 50 numbers. We actually removed the phone from our bedroom 3 years ago so as not to be disturbed after 8PM and this one has a silent mode that allows me to enter specific times each day when the ringer automatically goes silent. So we now again can enjoy security of a bedside phone. Boy do I wish that feature had been available to me as a shift worker, I would not have lost sleep over forgetting/remembering to turn the ringer on/off before falling asleep or waking up for duty. The base to handset range is commendable. We live in a spilt 4BR floor plan. The base is in the kitchen and the handset in the MBR was able to self register across that distance. I also like the non-existant antenna extension. It is flush with the handset- our older one had a 2" raised antenna and it attracted the dog to grab the phone and chew on it when it was blinking and we were away from home. I am very pleased with the clarity of the line. It seems to be clearer than our older 5.8GHz model. It works well sharing a home line with a Multi Fax Copier on Verizon Fios. We prefer our own answering system to the Verizon one and with this product they all play well together. I would have spent the extra money on the Panasonic Speaker Phone if I knew that this was only an Answering System but this is a good replacement overall.

5Panasonic Has Another Winning Product!
By J. Jares
After 15 years, our last Panasonic cordless phones bit the dust. I knew I wanted another Panasonic product because I tried 2 Uniden products and they were poor replacements. This has it all! But my favorite perk with this phone system is call blocking. My husband is turning 65 soon and the phone has been ringing off the wall with solicitations for supplemental insurance. It has been awful; but with my new phones, I eliminated the pesky calls.Panasonic has the most incredible range -- we can talk all the way to the mailbox (down the street) and back, with no interference or phone call drops. These new phones use regular batteries, so we will save by not having to buy the expensive replacement batteries. We are both very happy with this product!

5Great Phone
By cam-pat
Great phone as I expected from Panasonic. Easy setup. With the four phones we can talk anywhere in the house and also from outside. Caller ID works as stated, we can hear who is calling before we get to the phone.
