2Hate it!
By The Sixth Replicant
We've had one of these for over six months and boy do my wife and I hate this thing. I'm giving it that second star because it does work (well, the second one worked, the first one died after a week).Pros: Announces calling number, cheap, just about the only game in town these days unless you want a phone with your answering machine.Cons: No blinking light or other indication of new messages. This is deadly unless you always delete all of your messages. Otherwise, you have to remember how many messages there were before you left the house. The calling number announcement doesn't have the right rhythm for 10-digit #'s, making it very difficult to understand. Pretty feeble audio quality. It has only a one digit display, so it shows 14 messages, for example, but showing - then 1 then 4.

2Voice compression is too extreme, cannot understand telephone numbers
By B. C. Chan
The voice compression for this device is so extreme that I have never been able to understand the telephone numbers that my callers leave on the machine. The device memory is probably good for only five minutes of clear recording, but it has been stretched to 40 minutes of garbled recording by extreme data compression, in order to advertise a longer recording time. When I listen to a recorded message, I can still catch the gist of the message from the context, but I can never understand the telephone numbers because garbled numbers cannot be guessed from the context. What I find ironic is that the factory pre-recorded voice prompts are VERY clear, meaning they were not compressed at all or were only slightly compressed. This was done in order to sell the device more easily, yet in actual usage, the machine compresses incoming messages severely in order to inflate the advertised recording time.

5Exceptional Value
By Gejoe
Was surprised and satisfied this machine works so well for a rock bottom price. Easy to set up. Simple. Easy to use. Able to access from anywhere. Paid for itself in 3 months of not using phone company voicemail.
