Finally a phone designed for the elderly

This phone is the latest Clarity XL40D, replacing the XL40 model. Got it for my 95 year old mother who has a hearing aid T-Coil that was not working with regular phones. Works great and finally I found a phone designed for all the little problems older people have with modern phones. Has override buttons for nearly everything; missed calls,voice mail, so my mom would not get confused with those 'annoying lights'. The keypad can be set to 'talk' speaking the number of each key as it is pressed. The large buttons even when pressed for a long time, by less mobile fingers, dial that number only once. Volume is easily adjustable and 'boost' can be left on so one does not need to reset it each time. I highly recommend this phone for anyone with hearing problems, or easily confused by modern phones with LED displays, small buttons, 2 lines, etc. The 12 memory channels are easily used; no upper and lower buttons to press. The ringer volume can be set from nearly silent to extremely loud (the trick is to set volume on the side when the phone is not ringing, don't try to adjust it while the phone is ringing). Especially solved our problem where her hearing aid T-coil was not working well with a regular phone. Should work very well for those without hearing aids that need an extra boost in volume, as it uses modern techniques to suppress background noises. Lastly, the users own voice can be amplified as well.

Phone allows me to have a conversation with my mother again!

I purchased this telephone because my mother could not hear me with regular telephones. She turned up the volume quiet loud and is able to use the telephone without her hearing aid. We had to turn down the tone switch so that it did not sound "blurry" and this helps her even more. When I use the telephone I can either change the volume or just hold it 6 inches from my ear. It is well worth purchasing and I am going to order another one for her kitchen. My only complaint is that we wish this telephone was cordless. If you want to have a conversation with a person and have them answer the real question you are asking then buy this telephone.My mother really likes the fact that when you dial a phone number the digit is announced and the fact that the telephone lights up when an incoming call is ringing. That is a great feature for when she has both hearing aids out of her ears!

poorly made

I received first of these phones, and it was defective. The keyboard did not work at all. Returned it and was given another that worked.Bought a second one, and this one was also defective. Returned it. Poor manufacturing and quality control. Keys are wobbly and lack positive tactile feedback.
