WASTE OF MONEY!
By M. Le Piane
I purchased a BeoCom 5 system online approximately a year ago with two handsets. The speaker phone version has had issues charging for the last several months, and the issue is now getting worse. The power adapter continuously pops out of the bottom. It does not merely fall out; it is ejected with some force even when it is turned upside down and because of this the phone never charges. This has got to the one of the worst purchases I have ever made.

A total disgrace - stay away`
By Frank Dobbs
The intercom does not work. It rings, but calls are not connected.Call waiting does not work. You hear when someone is calling, but it won't pick up the new call.I have some hearing loss. There are 6 or 8 different ring tones, none of them loud enough. The interface is more than a little awkward to use. It uses a joystick, but the controls are dependent on where in the interface you are. After a year of use, it still does not seem intuitive. On the plus side, the design is elegant. The speaker phone can be operated anywhere on battery power. The fonts are excellent.I once had a B&O landline phone, which was by far the best phone I've ever had. I spent $3,000 on a full system, and it just does not work as advertised. On the plus side, it is so expensive and so dysfunctional that it makes a great conversation piece. It always makes my friends who are down on their luck glad they don't have it.

Not a very good phone
By rpm1115
This was one was one of the biggest wastes of money that I have ever made. I like the new technology and I am a bit hard of hearing so I drank the cool aid when I bought this phone system. I spent $2K for the system because the Bang Olufsen name means quality - Right? Wrong! The phone is difficult to use and not user friendly. I am tech savvy and after 18 months I still haven't learned to use this phone. My wife hates it. The adapter cord keeps coming out and this prevents proper charging. Whenever there is power failure you have to re-register the phones to the base. The keypad is small and difficult to use. The sound sometimes shuts off - don't know if something that I am doing or not. It does not have a hang up shut off feature so when you return the phone to the base unit it is still on. You have to press a difficult to access button to turn it. One of the handsets just died recently. I am sure that it isn't on warranty so I will probably have to pay a lot of money to have it repaired. We have an old ATT wireless phone system that has worked for 6 years now. We paid $200 for the system. This one cost $2K and one of the handsets is dead after 18 months.
