Made in the USA!

Amazing to me that some things like this are still made in the USA, but this particular model of this phone is. The other distinguishing feature of this phone vs the cheaper (made in China) model that you'll see elsewhere on Amazon is that it has a ringer volume control as well as a handset volume control. Now this is a mechanical bell ringer, so the volume control is a bit limited, essentially it can be off, it can make a quiet click-click-click noise, it can ring in a slightly muted fashion, or it just rings loudly with the sound that all older phones had.Lookswise, I think this phone is a timeless classic of design: minimalist, utilitarian, looks good anywhere, 100% reliable and fit for purpose (If you watch a bit of CNBC, you might notice they use these phones on the floor of the NYSE). The handset has a decent weight to it, and the traditional shape still has better ergonomics than a 'modern' slimline wall phone. I also prefer having the buttons and receiver pick-up on the wall piece so there are no accidental button presses or hang-ups whilst you're on a call. Requires no AC power or batteries, and doesn't even need a wire to connect it to a standard wall jack - it just clips right on.

A Nice Solid Phone

This phone has a look and feel of quality, and it is one of few wall phones available with the keys on the body of the phone rather than on the handheld part. The only negative aspect of this phone is its "single gong ringer," which is not very loud at full volume. Cortelco does offer another model with a double gong ringer though, which I assume would be louder.

Great Low-Tech Phone + Emergency Prepardness Tool

Really a simple Low Tech Phone that does nothing remarkable with one exception. If the power goes out, this phone will continue to work as long as the telephone company lines hold out. Your fancy wireless home phones with their AC power requirements will either fail immediately or as soon as the batteries go. An Emergency Prepardness device for the home.
