I bought this phone system for my father with Parkinson's. I am so impressed with the design of the phone. First, the main unit is intuitive to set up and comes with clear LARGE PRINT instructions. Plus, there are places for pictures on the front buttons which is important in case of stroke if people cannot read words or numbers. What is most impressive is the portable unit that dad carries around. He no longer has to run to answer a ringing phone--all he does is press a button and the unit works as a speakerphone. Most important is that the portable unit has two buttons to place calls to me or my husband. Already dad has used this a few times to call us when he fell at home. I am impressed with the design and quality of this phone for seniors and others with disabilities.

I've bought 2 of these ... one for my 89 year old mother and one for a friend who is legally blind (macular degeneration with only peripheral sight). Both ladies LOVE the phones ... especially being able to answer the phone from the pendants. They also like that each caller is announced so they can decide whether to answer the phone or not. My mother even had my niece take the pendant to the pool for the villas (about 100 feet away) and it worked there also.It was easy to install and setup. The photo programed numbers are very sensitive ... I found that out when I programmed for #1 button for 911 that it works even if the handset on the base unit is in the cradle. I hung it up immediately after one ring, but FL emergency called back and I explained that I was setting up a phone system for someone who was legally blind. They were very nice about the false alarm call.One minor complaint ... the voice announcer takes some getting used to because it is an electronic voice. It's like getting used to someone with a slight speech impediment.My mother has recommended the phone to all her friends and relatives ... even the younger ones in their 60's. ;-)

I set this up today for my elderly Mother who uses two hearing aids. This system is amazing! The pendant speaker phone is very lightweight, simple, and functional. The sound is great and it has a voice command feature that allows her to call any of the four speed dial numbers, not just the two emergency dial buttons. She can also use this function to check missed calls and return any she wishes to, as well as to check her answering machine. This means she can essentially use the pendant for most of her calls so she doesn't need all the handsets I thought she would. She feels safer and more confident having this with her all over the house and yard and she doesn't have to remember to have her cell phone with her, something she often forgot. Set up was quick and intuitive, but there are so many features you'll want to read the manual. It has backup batteries in the base so she can use it even when the power goes out, something that concerned me about the powered phones. All the phones have lights that blink when a call is coming in, but they are smaller and not as bright as I would have hoped. This may be offset by the fact that the volume of the ring can be turned up pretty high. I'm very pleased with this purchase!Update:After several weeks, it's even better than I thought! I had to reprogram the speed dial buttons after a traumatic event where she called 911 by mistake. I've now programmed the two buttons on the pendant to my phone and my brother's phone. She can call 911 by pressing the button on the side and saying out loud "Call speed dial 3". Another function that addresses an issue I was afraid she'd have, when she wants to take a nap she can leave the pendant on but easily set the phone to go directly to voice mail for a set time after which it automatically reverts to the phone. So she doesn't have to remember to take the mute off! I haven't had to rush over to check on her since she got this phone, something I often had to do before since she often couldn't hear her phone ring!!! Not that I minded, but she felt she was a bother when I had to check on her.
