Cordless Phone Offers Value

The vtech DS6521 cordless phone set offers a lot of features for a reasonable price.These phones offer DECT 6.0 connectivity along with Connect to Cell functions. This feature enables the user to add their cell phone to the landline connection. So if your cell phone rings, you can answer it on your cordless phone set in the house. It enables you to add over 3000 contacts to your phone directory as well.Other standard features include speakerphone, Caller ID capability and digital answering system. Audio quality is quite clear and the phone is easy to use.There are some major negatives with this phone. The primary problem with this phone is that its battery does not hold a charge for more than 1-2 days. Yes, this is common with a cell phone, but a cordless phone system battery should last a few days longer. I was constantly returning the phone to the charger for this reason. The other negative is that its blue display can he hard to read at times. The LCD offers dark blue text on a light blue background, not the easiest to see. The phone did lock up once for the month I used it and I had to disconnect the power from the base and reconnect it to restore service.The phone was easy enough to use, but the negatives outweighed the positives. I am getting another phone with similar features that does not require charging every second day or so.If you're looking for a phone with lots of capabilities check out the vtech DS6521, be aware of its shortcomings.

Great convenience

Had to write in when I saw so many negative reviews. I got this phone at a big box store that starts with a "C" with three lines and mostly bought it for the connect to cell capability (I also wanted a new answering machine cuz I'm old school like that) ;-) My cell phone is old (flip phone kind) but even so it recognized it and connected immediately. It also uploaded all my cell phone contacts into the directory. I do notice that the cell's battery drains more quickly when I connect using this phone, but I also tend to talk longer because the speakerphone allows me go go hands free and the reception is 10x better than my cell's speakerphone. The blue display has not caused any problems for me. In fact I've liked the phone so much that I plan to get one of these for my parents for Christmas.

DIFFICULT TO USE AND DIFFICULT TO SEE SCREEN

I just bought this set to use with Magicjack, because my cell reception in my building is crappy. The Magicjack works just fine, but this Vtech system is awful! As the previous reviews said, it takes a lot of clicks (which are hard to see with gray on gray) to maneuver to the directory. The call quality is cheap sounding and that surprises me because of the reputation of VTech. Oh, well. This set is going back and I will revert to Panasonic.
