Must return in original package???

Purchased a Vtech CS6429-3 for the home of a 95 yo physically challanged lady and within 2 weeks, one of the chargers quit working. Tried different outlets, different adapters, different handsets to no avail. Upon contacting JR Music & Computers who sold it on Amazon.com, I was told that I could return the whole unit in the ORIGINAL package leaving her without a phone system for who knows how long. As I expected the unit to last more that two weeks, I did not save the original package. (What are they going to do, sell THAT unit to someone else?) They could not send just the charger, it had to be the whole unit. Think this company is going to charge ahead in their business?? Very disappointed.
