Another Great Vtech Phone

I've been ordering from Amazon for years without any problems, and once again, Amazon service was stellar. I ordered the Vtech CS6229-5 plus one CS6209 handset on the 12th, estimated delivery was the 21st, and I received them on the 20th. Because I'm a Technical Writer, I always read the user's manual first, so there were no surprises. For those who don't read manuals, you should still be able to figure things out because of the excellent, intuitive Vtech menu system. If not, RTFM or call Vtech customer service. This system replaced a 5.8 GHz Vtech system, which I liked, but I wanted to upgrade to the newer DECT 6.0 phones for their added functionality. So far the phones work flawlessly. The handsets are small and light, and the big screen is easy to read. Installation was smooth as silk, with each handset finding the base (registering) automatically. Sound is loud and clear and the range is great too. In addition, you can expand this system up to 12 handsets. There are cheaper expandable systems, and more expensive ones too, but IMNSHO, the Vtech CS6229 is a Great Buy!

great system

I have these phones all over my house. They work great. I like the intercom system (you have to remember which phone is number 1,2,3 etc!!) No problem with sound quality. You do have to be sure the phone is held exactly to your ear; if it moves even slightly (as when you try to hold it on your shoulder) it's hard to hear, which is the only reason I took one star away. Answering maching is clear.

very easy to set up and to use

We previously had several different types of phones throughout our house, but we decided that we wanted an expandable multi-handset cordless phone system with an answering machine that was a total unit, so we ordered this V-tech unit with 5 phones and then a few additional compatible phones that would synch up to this main system. It was very easy to set up and easy to learn to use. We have had V-Tech products before and were very pleased with them, so we decided to go with V-Tech again and we are very pleased. Caller ID and the intercom system are nice features and a very nice convenience to have. The only thing I would have liked better is for the name directory to be able to take more than 15 characters.
