Durable device works with more than OCS

As someone who works from home most of the time, I am slowly moving towards UC and was recently provisioned a soft phone. I've loved the Plantronics W440 SAVI Convertible, Wireless DECT Headset System for Laptop, Softphone & Multimedia Use - Black & Silver but often want to use a speakerphone. I bought this unit hoping it would work with the soft phone client we use, and I've been very pleased that it has.The unit is quite heavy duty feeling, not "too heavy" but reminds you of phones of yesteryear that were built to last. It is of expected Polycom quality. It's stylish, small, and well balanced/weighted. The ear piece is comfortable and sounds great. The speakerphone has the typical Polycom sound where the highs are a bit muted and it doesn't convey any hiss from the other party.The unit plugged in to my Windows 7 machine and was recognized without installation of any additional drivers and works well with the CounterPath eyeBeam software that I use as my soft phone.

Perfect for those that work from home

I work at home very often and use Office Communicator (Lync) for conference calls all day long. It is nice to have hands free capability without worrying about Bluetooth battery and quality problems that are associated with a hands free headset.The speakerphone is loud enough that I can wander away from my desk and still hear the conversation in the other room. Audio is High Definition and my voice seems to be clear regardless whether I use speaker phone or the handset. This is a huge deal because I hear people on speakerphone all the time and they sound muffled and distant. I'm told that my audio quality is superb constantly, which makes this a buy.

This phone is very easy to set up and use. The speakerphone is extremely good: I can use it for conference calls without feedback problems. Voice quality over Skype is very good.
