5Great Lens For The Price
By FS
I purchased the lens from Snow8008 for under $100 with shipping! The lens is pretty sharp outdoors. Indoors with low light the auto focus does hunt a bit. Bought it for my Pentax K100D and the pictures look good, again in good light, but this is the case with any lens in this price range. If you are in the market for a good cheap zoom lens, you cannot go wrong with this lens considering that you can find it for under $100 if you look around.I already have a lens that covers the 24-70mm range, so I wanted a cheap lens to cover up to 300mm range and this was the right price for me. I saw a review for the pentax 55-300mm lens which is about 3 times as much and they said that this lens (75-300) was actually sharper, I decided to save the money and buy this one. I'm happy with the results. I had and old point-and-shoot 10X zoom and this lens on a slr camera is far better quality. Keep in mind that you are dealing with slr quality cameras which are a step above point-and-shoot, so everything is still good quality. So, if you are looking for a good lens to get you closer to the action to be used to send pics in e-mails and print your 4x6 or even the occasional 8x10 pictures this should be enough for any amateur shooter.I would suggest that if you are an recreational shooter like me, and you want an all-in-one lens, I would consider one of the tamron 18-250 or 18-270 or the pentax 18-250. When I was looking at reviews and testing this lens, there is hardly any difference from the 250mm to 300mm range and even 200-300 is not much either. Keep in mind most all-in-one lenses cost at least twice as much though, but if you don't want to fool around with multiple lenses, that might be worth the money for you.
