A great product....

We had an older VTech phone system with a cordless base answering machine and extensions throughout the house. As extensions wore out we replaced them, until the day came when they were too hard to find. The system was not perfect but worked well when you got used to it. Disadvantages were that nothing about the system was intuitive; the occasional power outage required a complete resetting of the base, which was complicated. Registering a new remote handset was no more difficult than double-encrypting the average Top Secret message. One great advantage, however, was that the handsets used rechargeable, commercially-available AA batteries. Deciding what would replace the VTech system was difficult. We looked at the competing products, and based on the reviews (AMAZON and others) chose the Panasonic KX-TG106X series. I dreaded the prospect of setting up and registering six new handsets, then programming the base. What a delightful surprise! A quick glance at the manual, and I had the whole project complete in a half hour or so most of the effort involved removing layers of packaging). A very useful chart in the manual instructs you to push the # key followed by a three digit code to perform virtually any setup function. Or you can do it by following prompts on the handset. Adding entries to the phonebook or to the Call Block list etc. is easy, and after a few tries it is second nature. You can hear and delete voice messages from any handset. Of course, there is a speaker option, the optional hands-free headset works well, and the display is Large and well-lighted. Handsets use rechargeable AAA batteries. Our phone company Verizon) dropped the extra-charge Call Block option some time back, and we missed this very useful feature. Now we have it again, at no extra charge in the Panasonic, and it works very well. Deceptive Advertising

Although this item was advertised as three handsets, with bases, I only received a single handset with a single base. When I wrote the company, I was told that they were in the process of changing the description. They offered to allow me to send the item back with a full refund, but I didn't want to take the time to repackage and drop off at the Post Office. I was peeved, however, since the cost of the single handset with base was higher than other alternatives. I just checked you website, and the item is still listed as 3 handsets with bases, so it seems as if this company wants to continue deceiving their customers. I am very dissatisfied and encourage Amazon to drop this supplier from their offering.
