4Good phone, but I hate new phones
By Tinker
Pros: Good sound. Good range. Nice feature set, but a bit difficult to locate find how to use each feature in the instruction manual. It's a phone. It works. For now.Cons: Smaller than the 5.8gHz set it is replacineg and NOTE TO MANUFACUTURERS: I don't want my home phone to be the same size as my cell phone. I can't prop a cell phone on my shoulder. Get a grip on this downsizing trend.Gripes: This is not about this phone in particular, it is a general gripe about all the phones we can buy. They are throw-aways, plain and simple. I've been through six units in 12 years - five to be honest, since the death of one was totally my fault. All of them Panasonic, all of them expensive as all get out. None of them worth 1/4 of their retail price. We've all been through a set or two, and it is NOT confined to the Panasonic brand...But here, on my desk, I have a 36-year-old Western Electric telephone that was given to me by my parents. I's been knocked off the desk a score of times, been dropped more than a few times, and I've slammed down the receiver more times than I can count. And every day it still works -- it has never failed, it isn't cracked or chipped, every button still works and the ringer is a real ringer.I'm tired of paying top dollar for junk that's going to fail me in two to three years, but what else can we do? I bought this as a a single headset unit and immediately hit the auction to buy two "vintage" Western Electric desk telephones and one wall telephone. And those three cost me less than I would have paid had I purchased this cordless unit with four headsets.Panasonic, you're just going to have to go it alone. I'm done with cordless throw-aways.

2Newer is not necessarily better
By C. Vanderlaan
This phone looks sharp, is sleek and compact, and has good quality finish. That's the good part. However, the phone causes interference with my computer speakers located 2-3 feet away, even when the phone is not in use. It sounds like a buzz or hissing noise and increases in volume when the phone is in use. None of my other wireless devices (802.11 router, bluetooth mouse/keyboard, etc) cause such interference. Part of the problem may be the new DECT 6.0 protocol that it uses (1.9 MHz), which seems to be all the rage right now. However, DECT does not seem to be a low noise/interference protocol like some others. I am returning this phone and buying one that uses spread spectrum (DSS or FHSS) technology, which is inherently low noise/interference (also making sure it is in not in the 2.4 MHz spectrum which supposedly interferes with 802.11 equipment). This phone may be fine if the base station is placed far enough away from other equipment like speakers, TV, VCR, etc, but this is not an option for me as it was to be used as a desk phone.

4Good phone with sluggish UI
By D. Adams
I'm a bit of a gadget junky, so I like my electronics to be fancy with all kinds of features and such. My previous cordless phone met this criteria being a VoIP phone with a color screen and lots of neat features. However, it also turned out to have horrible call quality and non-responsive buttons. After complaining for a while, my girlfriend purchased me this new phone. I generally love it but there are a few minor drawbacks.First and foremost is the call quality. It is exceptional. I've yet to have any problems hearing anything that is said or vice-versa. Range is outstanding too. Just today I walked outside and up to the mailbox with no drops in quality. About the only con I can think of would be volume. While it is loud enough, I do like having a little buffer. That one time it's a bit quiet and I can't go up one more notch. Speaker phone is much the same too; I'd like it to be a tiny bit louder, but it's not bad by any means.Battery life is very good. I've not run the phone down but I know it'll last a few days off the charger. It also has a basic battery gauge in the corner so you have some idea what level you're at. But even if the life were poor, the thing uses standard AAA NiMH batteries! No special crap, just two standard rechargable batteries. BIG plus in my book.Using the phone...this is where it gets any real deductions. Basic usage is fine. Key-pad is nice and crisp and basic usage is fine. But try using features within the phone and it goes south. The menu is very primitive and sluggish. Layout of some more advanced features are all but hidden. Actually the manual gives you shortcuts to get to many features (such as pressing #998) And even basic functions such as volume control are done by the rather flimsy 5-way stick. So side rocker for volume control...tisk tisk.I've yet to use the answering machine or (talking) caller ID so no comments there...All in all, a great basic phone.
