Great phone with minor flaws
By P. Patel
This is a great phone with excellent reception and is easy to use. It's not designed in a way that makes it very easy to hold between your ear and shoulder though, and you can't separately control the ringer tone and volume on each handset. When you turn the ringer off on one handset, it also turns it off on the other.

6.0 DECT Plus.... a Plus!!
By biker1
I just purchased this phone for a friend. I am also in the telecommunications business. I sometimes purchase a 1 or 2 line cordless phone to work alongside the phone systems I install for Commercial clients.I have always gotten the Panasonic KX-TG6700B for clients which works on the a 5.8Ghz frequency. Great range and a great phone. Then Panasonic stopped making the 5.8Ghz frequency phones, and came out with the 'New & Improved" 6.0 DECT (1.9Ghz frequency) devices. I purchased them for a couple of people, but not Clients, and I was very disappointed with the phones. The 6.0 DECT ranged Sucked,to put it mildly, while the 5.8Ghz phones had tremendous range. The 6.0 DECT devices also were flimsy, and not as well made as the 5.8Ghz devices were. I let everyone know my dismay, and never installed another Panasonic cordless phone for a Client after my bad experiences, and the new 6.0 DECT phones failure to live up to the Hype!!Then I tried the 6.0 DECT Plus, and I was pleasantly surprised at the Range I got out of the phone (But still not as good as the 5.8Ghz range phones, yet MUCH better than the previous 6.0 DECT Panasonic devices. I didn't have a 6.0 DECT device to do a side by side comparison, But the 6.0 Plus devices do appear to have better range.I also see that Panasonic has a Range Extender device which can also be purchased, if one requires more range. It is obvious that Panasonic's 6.0 DECT devices didn't fare well in the Range department, which is why they are making the 6.0 DECT PLUS devices as well as the Range Extenders. The device also feels slightly more 'weighty' and not as flimsy as the past 6.0 DECT devices, but I would have to look at the weight specs to be sure.I do recommend the KX-TG6542 for those of you who were disappointed with the 6.0 DECT devices. If you are not happy, you can always return them to Amazon for a full refund.I have to say that before I install one for a Commercial Client, I would have to 'road test' the 6.0 DECT Plus devices regarding their range in a larger environment. I knew the 5.8Ghz devices would pass the range tests, but I am not so confident regarding the 1.9ghz devices. But with the 6.0 Plus and Range Extender options, my confidence is growing.

Panasonic cordless phones and answering system
By Jim R.
As with all previous Panasonic products I have purchased, I was very satisfied with this system. Everything worked great, as described. And it has some very excellent features. The only complaint I have is with some shortcomings in the answering system. It doesn't easily show how many new messages are waiting, or how many total are open. It just has a light which blinks upon new messages. Also, it doesn't announce the date and time each message was received. My old worn-out answering system had an LED which showed the number of total messages and blinked if any were new. It also announced the day and time received at the end of each message playback. While these annoyances aren't deal-breakers, one would think they should be basic features.
