Disappointing in comparison to older Panasonic system

I've been using a Panasonic KX-TG6051M 5.8 GHz answering machine for the last three years, and it has performed excellently. It doesn't have call blocking, however, and I wanted a system which could block some annoying robo callers. That's why I purchased a KX-TG6531B DECT system.I found that the KX-TG6531B doesn't have firmware with the attention to detail that the older phone has, and that it wasn't as mechanically rugged either (lots more plastic and a wobbly base stand, for example). The audio from the base unit's speaker was also noticeably inferior and was clipped at times, and the synthesized speech used English incorrectly in a couple of places. In short, the attention to detail that I've come to associate with the Panasonic brand name was missing when this phone was designed.Still, it'll do what it claims, even if it doesn't do it well. That's why I gave it a three star rating and am not replacing my older phone with it. Instead, this phone will be used to block calls only by operating as a wired extension that never answers calls.

Not Really TALKING CALLER ID

We had an old phone with talking caller ID thay finally died (Not a Panasonic) so we wanted another one that did.When someone would call, it would anounce the callers Phone Number. This new Panasonic doesn't. It only will display it on the phone. It will anounce a name IF you have it programmed into the phone but never a phone number.I called Panasonic and was told by their Tech Dept that None of the Panasonic phones will anounce the phone number.OF COURSE>> I wasn't told the truth at first.They first said that it was the Phone Companys Problem (B.S.), Then they said that the number had to be programmed into the phone(B.S.), On the 3rd call they finally admitted that none of the Panasonic phones would anounce a phone number.We still like the phone and it sounds and works fine anywhere on our two acre lot so we are going to keep it to avoid the hassle of sending it back.I just think that Panasonic should say:"Talking Caller ID will only anounce NAMES that you have programmed into the phone and WILL NEVER anounce the Phone Number of Any Incomming Call".

I got this phone for my 70-year old parents and the large lighted display and speaking caller ID sold me. They have learned how to use it more easily than I thought they would as they are VERY technology-challenged. Teaching them how to delete the old caller IDs was the trickiest part, but other than that, the whole set up and usage has gone smoothly. The sound is clear and adjustable and since I'm always on the callee end of it, I can say that the range of the phone is very good when they get far from the base unit. They are so tickled that they can move around the house and still talk the whole while.When I need to get a new phone for my own home, I will most definitely look into the most current version of this phone for myself.
