Great little phone. Lots of good features.
By ScreamingMiMi
This phone is an upgrade to my old Motorola which answered calls and had an answering machine. It got all 5 Star reviews on Best Buy so I got it for a great price. This phone has a ton of advanced features which I don't really need so won't comment on setting up 3 way calls. If you need something basic this may not be for you because of the cost.At first glance at the instruction book I thought I'd need an engineer to figure out how to set this up but it's pretty intuitive and if you have programmed any kind of phone before you can certainly get the basics. If you just look at the screen and the option buttons it's easy to figure out. One thing, it uses codes to do things, raise or lower volume, change options. All the codes are in the instruction booklet.Let me talk about one of the pluses of this phone. You can do everything from the handset! This is fantastic! You can screen calls, look at CID, delete calls, it's fantastic. The display is pretty big and easy to read. I can even scroll through my contact list without my glasses on.It has a feature where caller ID actually talks to you. I found it too annoying so looked up in my handbook how to stop and it was off. It prompted me to turn it off on the handset and the base unit. I honestly don't know why I would ever need the base unit once I got it set up except to charge a phone. As I use it I'll see if I use more features but right now I'm good. There are 2 things I do not like about this phone. First, if you are screening your calls you cannot hear the outgoing message. You only know the answering machine is on when someone starts to talk (there is a button on the base unit to turn the answering machine off but I don't know why you would). Second. If you are in a dark room at night and need the phone, if you forgot where you put it you are dead. There is no light to tell you where the phone is. The phone lights when it is charging but after that nothing. If you take it off the charging base it lights up so I guess if you flailed around and knocked it off the charger you would find it.What else do you need? Plug it in, charge it up and you're off.

Love this phone
By Penny
This phone is exactly what I wanted. It works great, has caller ID and a lot of other functions detailed in the description. I chose this model because I wanted voiced caller ID, and most phones with this feature cost more. I was a little disappointed (and rated it 4 instead of 5) because at first I absolutely couldn't understand the voice, but I must be getting used to it, because I can understand it much more often now.

bad experience

First thing I will say is "Unplug Panasonic phones if a storm is coming!". I had a previous review here that was good, but I've changed my mind. Panasonic phones have the coolest features offered for phones, I love them, but underneath lies a big problem. I previously had a TG9331 that lasted for years but during a storm one day there was a close lightning strike and the base unit died. Funny thing was nothing else on the surge strip was affected. With so many years of good service I went ahead and purchased this Panasonic model, plugged it into a different outlet with a surge supressor that had only one other item plugged into it. A few days ago we had a storm, lightning around but no close strikes and the electricity went off for a minute. When it came back on the base unit for this phone was out! This phone was only 9 months old and this was the first big storm of the season. Again the other item on the strip was not affected. Never have I had to remember to run around unplugging phones when a storm is coming in. I've had other kinds of phones over the years, AT&T, Uniden, V tech and they all made it through storms and close lightning strikes, but not the Panasonics. I'll never buy another one.
