Good, reliable cordless phone

I've had this phone for nearly 10 years and it's been working well for me. As I've had great experience with Panasonic phones and products practically without exception I'm currently in the process of replacing it with another Panasonic phone, Panasonic KX TG6641B DECT 6.0. This model has served well but it's on its last leg -- I work from home and have used the phone heavily over the 9+ years making many calls daily. The touch pads on the base and the cordless handset are starting to act up and I occasionally have to redial numbers. It's not too bad but it is annoying especially when I'm in a hurry to open up a conference call for 30 people and the keypad decides to act up. But then again, it's been subjected to rather heavy wear.The phone itself has good features, many now standard on new phones. It has a voice mail, speaker phone, mute button, redial, link/conference button, call waiting, backlit keypad on the cordless handset, display on the handset, directory for phones, call history, etc. It's based on the older technology, 2.4 GHz frequency but I must say I've never had any problems with range, dropped calls or clarity. It really has been a good phone. About the only two things that I wish were different is that the base itself had a display and that the batteries for the cordless handset were better. The manufacturer batteries are close to $50 and do last a while, but not as long as I'd like them to for the price. Generic batteries are about half the price of that but barely last 6 months.If you're not looking for the latest and greatest phone but still want a reliable product in your home or office this is a good option to go with. You can still find them both new (if you search hard enough) or manufacturer refurbished for a good price. New phones are available in a cheaper price range, but the cheap ones often have issues with clarity, reliability (dropping calls) and battery life. So do your research and read the reviews before making your decision -- don't decide just based on cheap price.
