Good phone
By Lars M. Hansen
I have just received this and got it set up. The quick-guide should be enough for anyone to get the phone set up. Plug in the phone cord, plug in the power cord, connect the rechargable batteries in the handset, and you're good to go.One thing that did puzzle me; when you set the time and date on one handset, this is synchronized between all the handsets (handy). However, phone book entries are *not* synchronized between the handsets, so you'll end up having to enter all your phone numbers on each handset, which is a drag if you have a lot of entries. I can see pros and cons to having it this way, esp. if you assign a handset to specific family members, which will let them have their own numbers programmed. I cannot find a menu option to force the synch either. Also, the phonebook is limited to 30 entries (per handset).I also like how you can assign ring-tones to entries in the phone book, so that when that person calls you, you get the assigned ring tone rather than the one you set by default.

Good phone for price
By S. Jackson
Overall, I'd say this it's a pretty good phone. It's not great and it's not the best (for this price point I wouldn't expect the best anyway). I looked at more expensive phones and decided on this one for the simple fact that I like the way it looked better then others I was considering, which where the Panasonic KX-TG6413T and the Panasonic KX-TG7432B. Yes, looks might be a shallow reason to consider a phone, but I'm not a heavy phone user and I figured if it's going to be setting out it might as well look good.As for using the phone, I found no major issues that would stop me from buying it again (in fact I'm ordering additional handsets). It's not a feature rich phone, so don't expect anything but the basics. It has Caller ID and a Phonebook, which I believe is limited to 30 phone numbers, and thats it.The distance or range of the phone from the base station seems to pretty good. Our house is about 1,700 square feet with the base station downstairs the extra phone upstairs. I'm able to walk throughout the house using either phone and not have a problem with sound quality or connection. I haven't tried it outside, so I'm not sure what the outer limit would in my case. For sound quality, I'd say that its pretty good. I will admit that when I first started using the phone it sounded as if the person I was talking to was on a speaker phone (even thought they weren't). It wasn't muffled, but somewhat distant sounding. Over the course of a couple of days I can say that I don't really notice it any more. I can't say whether it went away or I just got use to it. I say "went away" as if the problem worked itself out because I just started using Vonage at the same time, so in all fairness I don't know if it was a phone issue or a Vonage issue at that time. I'm also use to using a cell phone and not a cordless home phone, and I can't remember if that is the way home phone are suppose to sound. In any event, I'm satisfied with the call quality on my end - whether I got use to it or it stopped. As for the person I'm called, everyone has said that the call comes through loud and clear with no issues at all.The overall construction of the seems pretty good. It's light weight and feels sturdy enough. I wouldn't go nuts and start tossing it around, but for average use indoors it should hold up as well as any other phone. Along the construction lines, the keypad is a little weird in that it is flat (not individual raised buttons). It does feel different, but don't it's not a make or break type of thing. In fact you could say that if you find yourself needing to clean off the pad, then this is the type of keypad that should be easy to wipe clean if you get something on it.Now the form factor might be something to consider with this phone. I wouldn't call it small when compared to other phones I looked at, but if your someone that likes to hold the phone against your shoulder with your head, you might not be able to pull that off with this phone. I think it's the light weight coupled together with the rounded back of the phone that causes it to slip with doing this, rather then the actual size of the phone itself. This isn't a really an issue for me, since I don't use the phone in that way, but on the occasion or two that I need both hands free to get something for a second I noticed it a little tricky - not impossible, but just something that you wouldn't do for an entire phone conversation. Just thought I'd through that out for your consideration since the phone doesn't have an external headphone jack.As for the other phones I was considering, the Panasonic KX-TG7432B is a good looking phone with as many features as most people will ever want. I personally just didn't feel that I need a lot of extra features, so I decided not to spend that much. If your a heavy home phone user or like a lot of bells and whistles, a feature rich phone like the Panasonic KX-TG7432B might a good option. As for the KX-TG6413T, I think it has a good mix of price and features. In fact, I think it has almost the same feature set as the Panasonic KX-TG7432B. However, when I saw the phone in person at a local store I wasn't jazzed about the looks. Specifically, the main base station just looked kind of cheap - although the handsets looked like a good quality set.So in the end I'm happy with the purchase and would buy this phone again. I wouldn't call it a "five star" phone because there are other phones that have more features and I'm sure are just as good if not better in the sound quality department. For something basic with good looks, I think this is a good choice.

Poor Ringtone Volume of this Phone
By Carl B. Huante
The features Of this phone are comparable to other phones I've used, Nothing outstanding. I bought a phone which I liked very much, locally from a national office supply store. and returned it because the ringtone volume wasn't loud enough. I have the same problem with this phone, even when the ringtone is turned up to the maximum volume. I can't hear it in the next room if I have the TV or radio on or even just the water alone running in the bathroom sink, and I'm only 20 feet or less from the phone. I don't know how people who are hearing impared, even slightly, can use it. My old phone 900mhz which I retired had to be brought out of retirement and hooked up with this one just so I would have a decent Ringtone volume. Also the handsets are so smooth that I can't dial the phone with one hand like I've always done without the phone slipping out of my hand and falling on the floor. This I don't like at all. Overall I would give this phone, only a fair rating. Correct these two flaws and you have an excelent phone.
