Quality out of control!
By 80sGuy
You can get a Tascam CDRW700 or CDRW750 for a lot less money, that's if you're willing to live with the faulty engineering from the CDRW700 and it is basically the same make with a different badge. What was Marantz thinking??? First, they merged with Denon and now this CDR632 is mfg in China with the leftover casings from Tascam? Being a proud owner of the highly acclaimed CDR631 and a big leap of improvement over the previous CDR630, I would at least hope that Marantz would fill the stocking with some sweet surprises on its newer model of CD recorder such as the CDR632. The AES/EBU & XLR plugs don't even exist on the new CDR632 as it did for the CDR631, new additions are mp3 playback and pitch control. As a musician myself and armed with mostly professional recording equipment, mp3 is worthless and any sort of "compressed audio" is inferior in a musician's point. Instead of the pointless features, Marantz should at least add a GB hard drive inside the unit (like the Alesis Masterlink ML9600) for "high bit rate" playback/recording and I'm sure this would not have a problem playing music for hours also...raw or uncompressed! The question is: what is a real Marantz these days?I am glad to own the CDR631.Pros:Professional feature(s) such as recording to a computer disc.Cons:QualityPro features absent from CDR631
