Still love it after 18 years
By K
When we first purchased these phones about 18 years ago, we had four people in the office, plus two additional desks in two garages. The page function worked great to notify someone in the garage that they had a call.We don't use the page function much these days, but I make good use of my 16 memory buttons. Each phone has its own memory buttons, and each button can store two numbers. To call the main number stored in a button, you just pick up the receiver and push the button. To call the alternate number, pick up the receiver, push the "lower" button, then the memory button. It even works for extra long international numbers.Unlike most office phones, you can pick up any of the four lines that are in use and join in the conversation. This is great for small offices or husband/wife teams. There is no need to transfer calls. If you answer and the call is for someone else, just put the caller on hold and anyone else can pick up the call at any time. The great thing about these phones is that there is no built-in answering machine to make your life miserable. We have our voice mail through the phone company, so we don't want some renegade phone taking messages, as has happened with other phones we have owned.Other buttons include: volume, mute, do not disturb, busy redial, conference and intercom.I use the conference button once in a while to make a 3-way call my husband's cell phone and get him on the line with whomever I am talking to.One of our phone jacks in the office seems to pick up jolts from lightening strikes, and I was burning out a phone a year until I realized I could prevent that by plugging the phone into two surge supressors. The phone has two double phone lines coming into it. Each phone line carries two phone numbers. I couldn't find a surge supressor that accepted two phone plugs, so I just set up the phone with a separate surge supressor for each two-line wire. I also have plugged the power cord into the surge supressor. These phones are no longer made, so you will have to purchase them used.
