A great antique reproduction phone!

This is the coolest antique reproduction phone I've ever seen, especially for the money. This isn't some cheap plastic knockoff, but rather it is a cast metal work of art that has good weight to it. Anyone who sees this phone at your house is going to ask about it. The only reason I didn't give it 5/5 stars is because the ringer doesn't actually make the bells ring. The bells only "ring" when you turn the hand crank (which doesn't do anything other than look cool and ring the bell). That being said, the electronic twitter ring sound that the phone makes is actually very pleasant. Still, minus 1 star for having bells but not using them.I believe there are to different companies that make a reproduction Eiffel Tower phone. I've never seen the other one in person, but when I was researching this purchase it appeared that this "Paramount Classic Collections" one is the better of the two. There is a less expensive one out there, and it is almost identical, but you can see in the photos of it that it won't have the intricate detailing on the legs. I think there was one other minor difference, but I can't remember what it was.

Nice design, but as others have said - bad ring.

Phone is pretty cool. Nice design and replica with some modern functions of touch tone which is cool. I am very dissapointed with the ringer. If they are going to make a replica of a phone, they should try to copy it entirely. Mechanical bell would have been much better and appropriate. If you like this style and can tolerate the cheesy ringer, I would recommend getting it. You DON'T want to attempt to buy an original unless you have big money. A refinished one goes for around $2,500. Even then the original still doesn't have a dial as these were created during the operator assisted/switchboard days. If anyone out there has one, you might be able to auction it for $1,500 non-refinished. Even the repro's of this phone in the 70's goes for about $350.

PERFECTION

My mother just finish building her dream home & is extremely selective about any and all furnishings she will allow in her new palace. I purchased this phone for her birthday back in January. The house was complete 3 weeks ago. This piece of art sits on a beautiful stand she had hand crafted just for it in her foyer! MAGNIFICENT! Thank you!
