Useful USB Handset

In order to use all of the phone's features you must use Skype. I bought this phone to use with the "Call Phones" feature in Gmail. Using it this way means no volume adjustment or dialing is possible. It's really no problem because you simply dial using gmail's dialer and talk using the handset. You can adjust the volume with your Windows mixer.The phone works well. As soon as you plug it into your USB port the handset's mic and speaker become active turning off your computer's speakers while it is plugged in. As soon as you disconnect it from the USB port it returns all of your settings to the way you had it before.We have been without a "land line" for a long time, going cellular only about 15 years ago. Now that I am retired I find that I do a lot of business calling during the day. Not wanting those calls to be charged to my cellular account I use this handset with gmail's free "Call Phones" service with perfect results. My particular phone has a small amount of distortion in the speaker which may not be in other samples. If you plan to use it with Skype all the features are activated but as I mentioned the limitations are simply minor annoyances with other VOIP services. For the price it can't be beat.

Does not work on a MAC

Might be a wonderful Skype phone for a PC but does not work on a MAC. Would have been nice to have indicated this somewhere before I purchased one.

Nifty VoIP Phone

I recently bought this VoIP USB phone from another company which had a sale for $8.99 for a few days. This phone is very handy and nifty and its driver was installed automatically when the phone is plugged in the computer. Even though the installation instruction on the accompanied CD mentions applications and drivers only for Windows 2000 and XP, it works very well with Windows 7. The calls are very clear. I could make calls with Google, Skype and Yahoo Messenger. For globetrotters this is a wonderful gadget to carry with a laptop to make cheap calls in all over the world.
