4Answering Machine - button hell

Phone volume is great, the numbers are large, but don't buy this for the answering machine. There is no light or warning tone to let you know you have a message. There is only a "tape" icon on the display, and a tone played every 60 seconds *when you are on the phone*. You have to consciously check the screen to make sure you don't have any messages.When you do want to check the messages, you have to navigate the menu system pressing three different buttons (one twice) while watching the screen. Clearly this is the worst part of this phone.When setting up the phone you can enter up to 20 digits into the "one-button dial" buttons. If you have a calling card with more than an 8 digit pin number, this phone will not work. You may think you can use two different memory buttons, but after dialing, the memory buttons are disabled, so you can only use one.While the phone has many functions, it's mostly menu driven. My experience is that people old enough to have hearing problems are not techno-gearheads that like gadgets and billions of features. They want a simple phone that works that they can hear.
