Awesome Expansion, More buttons than I know what to do with.

I got this guy to supplement my SPA504G. I've been doing a lot of playing and experimenting with Asterisk and this gives me room to work things out without having to use up my actual line buttons.This thing has more buttons than I know what to do with. There is an ability to hook up a second one of these to a phone, but I don't know exactly what someone would do with 64 blinky buttons (plus whatever happens to be on your phone). All those green lights do an epic job of lighting up my entire room at night.Instead of telling you all the awesome things that this product does, since this is something you were probably going to buy anyways; I'll tell you all of the weird things that bother me about the SPA500S.The device comes in a box with erector set esque mounting brackets on it. It also has a stand if you'd like to use it with your desk phone. No matter what I do, mine doesn't sit at the same angle as my phone. If you have self-diagnosed OCD like I do, this may bother you.The headphone jack on side of the phone is obstructed by this module. Cisco left a channel on the back for the wires to come out and around, but I don't understand why they didn't just make a snap on extension to bring it over to the end of the phone. If you unplug your headset a lot this will be annoying.The protective piece of plastic that covers the paper label was a touch too large on mine, so it doesn't sit flat. I just took it off and put it in my box, but hopefully mine is just a one off mess up. I write on mine a lot anyways, so it's better that way.The lights on this device don't blink with any kind of synchronous pattern. If you have a ring group of 32 phones and they all ring at once, your BLF status will go absolutely nuts. 10 calls on hold will all blink independently of each other. It makes my phone look like the control panel of a nuclear reactor during a meltdown. It screams absolute chaos rather than control.Documentation is either indecipherable or nil. Nothing a good internet search engine can't help with, but there is quite a learning curve to this product. This may have something to do with the fact that I'm using asterisk rather than Cisco's backend product. Once you get it set up, however, it's solid.Anyways, your mileage may vary. Perhaps it behaves better under Cisco Callmanager. It sure looks neat, and my desk feels like a spaceship!

We have a small office with about 5 employees. I needed a phone system that worked well for us. I went out to local suppliers and they all tried to ripe me off. I looked at the different systems and decided I wanted the Cisco system. I did not want to pay the outragious prices they quoted so I bought it myself through Amazon. With the help of a local IT person to help me install it. I ended up with a great system and spent about $3000 total which saved me about $3500+. It was a little difficut to install but once we figured everything out it works great.
