Old time phone

Digitized 'bell' ringer is the only difference in this model from those of the 1970s. I love the feel of the handle and ease of keying numbers. Always good to have a landline phone in my opinion, and this fits the bill.

It was supposed to have a gong ringer? Has a electronic ringer. I have said every thing I had to sat.

Sound is not reliable

Occasionally during summer the heat makes our power go out for a while. And similar things happen during rare storms. But, since I live in a mostly unoccupied building, if my power goes out, I am often the only person to alert them to do something about it.So, I needed a phone that would function without my electricity. This phone works perfectly for that. Every time I've used it, my caller or the person I called can hear me perfectly. It works without electricity and it's dependable and stands up to a good kick in the middle of the night (Restless leg, anyone?). It's heavy, including the handheld bits, but I don't mind, which is nice if my portable is recharging and I'm talking to family.However, the sound on my end (the voice of the person on the other end) is not reliable. Usually, if I fiddle with the tiny switch back and forth for a second, I can hear the other person again. But, if I can't, I have to shake the receiver, fiddle with the switch more or unplug and on rare occasions I have to call them back later.But, like I said, this works the way it was intended to. Whenever my power has been out, I have been able to call and alert maintenance and receive calls back, so, I love this phone. I just wish I'd bought a prettier one.
