5Affordable alternative to VoIP Door Intercoms
By J. Nash
I have always been uneasy about mounting VoIP door intercoms outside. Someone could just stroll up, rip the intercom off, and get access to the phone side of your network. On top of that, I hated spending $360+ per intercom and it was usually a retro fit, so I also hated running cat6 to where the old intercom was. This Bogen intercom fit the bill as an affordable alternative. The intercom is made up of very durable, high gauge stainless steel. It comes with all the seals you need to mount it, although one of mine seals came crushed and malformed.Installation was a snap, you just mount it to a standard square electrical box. Connect your wires to the terminals or use the included rj-11 female connector. Then configure a ring-down line on your favorite ATA with an FXS port, or in my case, a pci-e card, and you are good to go. I had it configured and running on a FreePBX box in a matter of minutes. It has built in controls for speaker volume, microphone volume, and call duration (from 15 seconds to 2 minutes). The speaker is very clear albeit on the quieter side, still plenty loud for a conversation, but you can't crank it like you can with external powered VoIP door intercoms. The microphone is also good. There is minimal distortion on the phone and echoing is non-existent.It turned out to be a great door intercom at a great price and I will be using it for future installs.

5Excellent Door Phone!
By Jose Prieto Fuentes
This is the first time I write a review and I think this product could use some more user feedback.First of all, the construction is excellent. It feels very robust and the finishing is superb. The electronic components seem very good too and overall it is a product well built to last. I have set up other brands of VOIP Doorbells, more expensive than this one, and the quality seems equal or better than the others. This is an analog phone that I installed to an Elastix box using a Grandstream GS-HT702.Audio is excellent. It has volume screws to set up the speaker and the mic gain.It brings a cut-off timer so that calls last between 15 seconds and 2 minutes if the ATA that you use does not have loop current disconnect. The GS-HT702 has this feature on the settings so the timer is not required. Note that if you do not set this feature to "yes" on the HT702, the Doorphone gives a busy tone when you hangup until the timer expires.I used the "offhook auto-dial" feature on the GS-HT702 to make it call an extension when somebody pushes the button. You can make it call a ring group too, but those are asterisk settings.I am very pleased with this product and it is a great alternative to the more expensive voip doorbells out there.ps. It does not bring a mounting or electrical box. I was not aware of this when I purchased so I had to go get an electrical box from the local shop. Not a problem.Link to the HT702 GrandStream GS-HT702 2-FXS-port Analog Telephone Adapter

4Arrived quickly and works fine
By abcdefg
I've found that these outdoor "doorbells" for the Avaya system don't last long - I get 2 -3 years out of them - before the electronics go bad. Must be the weather. But, there is no alternative that I've found that works with the Avaya switch I've got.
