As Good As It Gets!

I know my two land line corded-cordless phones and believe me, this one is currently the best available on the market. Yes, there are issues, but land line phones are considered the dinosaurs of the phone business and manufacturers are selling "carp." I have been using this phone system for several months and it is far and away so, so much better than the AT&T system that it replaced.1) The sound quality is very good2) The screen is large, moveable, and easy to read3) The screen is informative: it tells you the time, the date, and the time elapsed of each call, as well as the usual caller ID info.4) The key board is logically laid out and easy to use. I do not find the keys difficult to push.5) There is a real hold button, not a "soft key"6) The handsets register easily and have good sound quality.7) The phone book can be shared between hand set and base station8) The Outlook software is OK, but can be ignored.This is a great deal on this phone, I wish it was available when I purchased mine!My review of my former AT&T system:http://www.amazon.com/review/R1HW5SPU7XPVP6/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0012CP1UY&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=

Weak range; advertized features don't work.

As noted in other reviews, the wireless range of this phone system is poor - substantially worse than the DECT 6.0 AT&T phone system that I owned before purchasing this one.More importantly, as of the time of this review, the Amazon webpage for this phone system states:Contact Sync - Customers are one click away.* Direct link between your phone and Microsoft Outlook* Easily make outgoing phone calls directly from your Microsoft Office Outlook contact list* Display incoming phone caller's contact information on your PC screenWhat it doesn't tell you is that Contact Sync and the subsequently listed features only work with an old version of Microsoft Office/Outlook (2010). It does not work and and Panasonic does not support Contact Sync with the current version of Microsoft Office/Outlook (2013). Moreover, contacts with Panasonic customer support suggest that Panasonic has no intention of ever updating the contact sync software to support the current version of Microsoft Office/Outlook. This crucial piece of information, which significantly influences the utility of this compared to competing phone systems, is not disclosed on either the Panasonic or Amazon websites.

Outlook integration

Incoming calls trigger Outlook to automatically pop up the caller's contact file. However, the required plug-in software caused outgoing email to hang in the outbox. This probably varies with OS, outlook version and what other plug ins are installed, so you may have better luck.Outgoing calls from Outlook require several clicks. You have to (1) open the contact file rather than calling from the list. Once in the contact file, you have to (2) select which line (1 or 2), then (3) pull down the list of phone numbers, then (4) click the phone number to call.The buttons are a little stiff.
